Coming soon - Parent Portal

During term 1 we are rolling out a new Parent Portal, a secure online platform used to share student information between you and your child’s teachers.

Using the Parent Portal on your mobile phone, tablet or computer, you will be able to:

  •         notify us if your child is sick or explain an absence
  •         book parent-teacher interviews
  •         receive academic reports
  •         receive our school newsletter
  •         receive messages from your child’s teachers
  •         make payments
  •         access the school calendar and your child’s student timetable.

One of the many benefits of the Parent Portal is that it will be used by all ACT public schools from preschool through to year 12, so there will be no need to use a different system as children change schools during their public-school journey. If you have children at nearby schools you will not need to sign up to the system twice. You will be able to easily add a student to your account once their school has access to the Parent Portal.

Sign up now

To access the portal, you will need to create or have access to an ACT Government Digital Account. You can sign up now and complete the level 2 identity verification process to get ready for our launch this term.

To complete the identity verification process you will need one of the following:

  •       Australian Driver's licence
  •          Australian Passport
  •          Birth certificate
  •          Australian citizenship certificate
  •          Change of name certificate
  •          Marriage certificate
  •          ImmiCard
  •          Australian visa
  •          Medicare
  •          Centrelink Concession Card

Visit the ACT Digital Account website to create your account: https://www.myaccount.act.gov.au/

If you have any issues with creating your account and completing your level 2 identity verification you can get in contact with ACT Digital Account to resolve by calling 13 22 81.

You will receive an email in term 1 with an access code to link your existing account to your child’s records. If you have any questions, please contact the front office at throsbyschoolinfo@ed.act.edu.au or on 61422880.

Authentic School Portraits

Hello Throsby School families,

The team from Authentic School Portraits will be attending your child's school the week of Monday 18th March to capture school photos! We thought we'd get in touch to introduce ourselves, tell you a little about what we do and provide tips on what you can do in preparation.

Who are we?

We are a Canberran team of highly professional and skilled portrait photographers with over ten years of individual experience photographing children. Steph, Kim, Sarah, Bella and Rand are your children’s friendly photographers, and they are accompanied by Ben, Danielle, Bella and Nick - our team coordinators.

Steph, a renowned family photographer, and Ben, an expert in business and marketing imagery, teamed up to fill a niche in Canberra's school photography market. At their Macgregor studio, they co-founded 'Authentic School Portraits,' with a vision to offer families treasured, genuine snapshots of their children, blending professional quality with a personal touch. This venture represents a fresh take on school portraits, promising keepsakes that capture the essence of each child.

What can you expect about the process for viewing and purchasing your children’s school photos?

If you would like your child to be photographed during photo week, please pre-register your information and interest with us here:

https://form.typeform.com/to/w73DrRjb

Note that all children attending throughout photo week will still be photographed to provide the school with use of a database photo and that by registering you are not committing to purchasing a photo.

If you do not pre-register, your child will only be photographed for inclusion for an internal database photo. Especially for those of you with more than one child at our centre, pre-registering your interest is crucial to guaranteeing that we can plan a beautiful sibling photo session.

It is essential to note that due to resource allocation and scheduling limitations, we will be unable to make additional changes or accommodate special requests once Photo Week begins. We want to ensure every family has the chance to secure these precious memories, so please do pre-register at your earliest convenience.

We aim to capture a range of photos by interacting with your child through play-based methods that capture real and authentic smiles! While we don’t always get every kid to smile as some kids do not take to strangers quickly, we do our best to engage and interact with children through these play-based methods.

What can you do in preparation?

Some parents have questions surrounding how to help us capture the best photos possible, and we've got a couple of tips for you before you send your child off to school on photo day. You can find those all at the link below under 'FAQ for Parents'.

Please note: If you wish for your child to wear a special outfit for their photos, kindly ensure they arrive in it at the start of the day; changing outfits during the session can be disruptive, potentially affecting their mood and delaying the photography process. Please note that while we can accommodate a retake if your child was unhappy during their initial photo, we won't be able to do so solely based on outfit choices. If our photographers face delays due to outfit changes, it may reduce the individual time your child gets with them, possibly impacting the quality of their photo.

A note on special outfits

If you wish for your child to wear a special outfit for the centre photos, kindly ensure they arrive in it at the start of the day and let your educator know they are especially dressed; changing outfit before the child’s session can be disruptive, potentially affecting their mood and delaying the photography process.

Photo Retakes

Please note that while we can accommodate a retake if your child was unhappy during their initial photo, we won't be able to do so solely based on outfit choices. If our photographers face delays due to outfit changes, it may reduce the individual time your child gets with them, possibly impacting the quality of their photo.

We're looking forward to photographing your children!
