At Throsby we have teachers who teach in specialised roles.
Olivia is our qualified Teacher-Librarian, Lynne teaches Performing Arts and Laura supports students as the English as an Additional Language or Dialect (EAL/D) teacher. She supports students who speak languages other than English at home. This support is in class, helping them to understand the learning which they are involved in.
Danielle is our teacher in our brand new Gungahlin Introductory English Centre (IEC). Introductory English Centres (IECs) are co-located in mainstream schools and provide support to newly arrived students with minimal English through intensive language teaching, prior to entry into mainstream schooling. IECs provide a safe and inviting place to introduce school life in Australia to students with little or no English. Students attend full-time for a determined period, prior to transferring to a mainstream school.
In 2022 our classes are named using Ngunnawal language.
